Center of Mass

Plot the geometric centre of each team and the distance between the two centroids.

The Center of Mass lens calculates and renders the geometric mean position of all outfield players for each team. A connector line between the two centroids shows the gap between the teams' centres of gravity.

Activating the lens

  1. Open the Lenses panel in the sidebar.
  2. Click the Center of Mass tile.
  3. Both team centroids appear by default. Use the Team filter to show only one.

Options

  • Team filter — show home centroid, away centroid, or both.
  • Distance label — toggle a numerical label on the connector line showing the distance between the two centroids.
  • Connector line — toggle the line between centroids on or off.

Reading the output

A low centroid indicates a deep defensive block; a high centroid indicates a high-pressing or attacking line. When centroids are close together, the match is being contested in a compact area. A large gap suggests one team is sitting deep while the other pushes high — a potential counter-attack scenario.

Available on all plans.
