Passing Lanes

Highlight open, contested, and closed passing corridors between the ball carrier and teammates.

The Passing Lanes lens analyses the corridor between the ball carrier and each teammate, classifying each lane as open, contested, or closed based on the positions and approach angles of defenders. Use it to identify safe outlets and anticipate defensive pressure.

Activating the lens

  1. Enable Ball Lock so the system knows which player has the ball (press B or click the ball lock tile).
  2. Open the Lenses panel and click the Passing Lanes tile.
  3. Lanes render immediately from the ball carrier to all teammates.

Lane states

  • Open (green) — no defender is within the corridor. The pass has a clear path.
  • Contested (yellow) — a defender is partially in the corridor but the pass may still be on.
  • Closed (red) — one or more defenders directly block the lane.

Tips

  • Ball Lock is required for accurate results. Without it, the lens defaults to the nearest player to the ball.
  • Filter by team to focus on the attacking side's outlets.
  • Pause playback on a specific frame to inspect a static snapshot before making your analysis point.
  • Combine with the Offside Line lens to confirm that open-lane targets are onside.

Available on all plans.
